This is a section of a fan fic crossover story that I started. The shows involved are Remington Steele, Charlie's Angels, Due South, Power Play, DaVinci's Inquest, and Enterprise. This is from a Charlie's Angels section...
Kris sat in her livingroom, surrounded by her best friends and her sister. Everyone was smiling and laughing as they went over old cases and shared memories. Jill was sitting with her arm around Kelly, her exhuberence making the other, quiter young woman's eyes sparkle. Sabrina was leaning back in her chair, for once looking completely relaxed. Happiness and friendship made her face look radiant. Kris loved seeing everyone so unguarded and wished that Bosley could be there with them. It wasn't the same without him. Only one thing made up for his absence.
They were going to meet Charlie.
For almost two years, Kris had worked for the Townsend Agency--and Jill, Sabrina, and Kelly had for a year before that--and not once had any of them seen Charlie's face. Not even a picture. None of them knew what he looked like. Well, none but Bosley, and Bosley had been sworn to secrecy. The four of them had given up on ever meeting him face to face, and now...
"So, what do you suppose he looks like?" Kris asked with a grin, taking another sip of the drink Sabrina had mixed her.
"I don't know," said Jill, "But I'll bet he's handsome.
"With a kind face," added Kelly.
Sabrina picked the arm of the blue chair she was in thoughtfully. "Are any of you a little scared of meeting him? What if he's small and round and bald like Danny DeVito?"
"Hey," Kelly protested. "I like Danny DeVito."
"But is he a Charlie?"
Kris had never thought of this. What if the years of expectation had made them too high for anyone to meet? What if they met him and were disappointed? Or, even worse, what if he was?
"Thank you, Bree, for making me nervous."
"I'm sorry, but we have to be prepared."
"Well," Kelly said, "Bosley's seen him, and I'm sure he'd tell us we're worrying for nothing. This is Charlie we're talking about. It doesn't matter what he looks like. We already love him, nothing will change that."
Kelly's words calmed Kris as they normally did. Kelly's faith in life and the goodness of people, strange for someone who had been bounced through orphanages and foster homes, often got the rest of them through some tough spots.
"I wonder why he's decided to show himself now," Kris said.
Sabrina shrugged. "Maybe he's tired of being a mystery."
"I don't really care why." Kelly smiled, "As long as I get to see his face."
The other three laughed at this. Kris was sure that their giddiness was more from excitment than the couple of drinks they had had.
The laughter was cut off by a knock on the door. All four young women froze and for a moment Kris felt an unreasonable sense of panic. Kelly and Sabrina shared a look before Kelly put down her drink and got up.
"Here goes nothin'."
Kris watched Kelly cross the room to the door. Her body blocked most of it as it opened, but they all heard the joy in Kelly's voice as she said, "Hi, Charlie." Then Kelly moved out of the way and Charlie stepped into the room.
It had to be Charlie. No other person could give off that unique Charlie-like aura. He looked at once as Kris had always imagined and completely unlike; he looked as Charlie should look, and the whole moment reverberated with a strong rightness. His face was a nice face, a kind face, with just a touch of arrogance. It was handsome in an ageless, benevolent kind of way. Kris could feel the warmth with which he regarded all of them as his smiling eyes met hers.
"Hello, angels."
Jill bounded to her feet and was the first to cross the room and grab Charlie around the neck in a humongous hug.
"It's so good to finally see you!"
"And you too, Jill. All of you girls. I've been waiting for this as long as you have."
Jill pulled away and twirled. "So, do we meet your expectations?"
"Rest assured that you've exceeded them."
"Well," said Kelly, her eyes shining brightly. "Do you have a hug for the rest of us?"
"Of course I do," Charlie chuckled.
Kris and Sabrina shared a smile and got up. Together, with Kelly, they envelopped Charlie in a three woman hug. After a moment, Jill threw her arms around the four of them. Kris started to giggle and it was infectious. It caught her sister first, then spread to Kelly, and then finally affected the often too serious Sabrina. After a moment, Charlie himself started to chuckle.
"Well met, Angels."
"Would you like a drink, Charlie?" Kris asked as the five of them disengaged.
"Please."
She hurried over to make him the drink and heard the others behind her, ushering him to the seat of honor. Jill was talking non-stop with Kelly and Sabrina putting in the occasional comment.
By the time Kris came back with the drink, they were all settled on the couch. Since there was no room left, she handed Charlie his drink and perched on the arm.
"Can I ask you a question, Charlie?" Sabrina said, her face thoughtful, her eyes calculating.
"Go ahead, Sabrina."
"Why now? What's so different about today?"
"Maybe he just wanted to see us," Jill told her.
"I don't think that's it."
And that's all you get for now...
